Antrim Coast Half Marathon After Party 2021

Cornwall’s best-known musical export Fisherman’s Friends confirm they will be headlining the prestigious World Athletics Label Series Antrim Coast Half Marathon After Party 2021

The After Party will be held at the picturesque Cairndhu Golf Club on Sunday 29th August.

A decade ago, The Fisherman’s Friends were persuaded to sign the million-pound record deal that saw their album ‘Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friend’s’ go Gold as they became the first ever traditional folk act to land a UK top ten album.

Thanks to the 2019 British romantic comedy movie, the story of the original Cornish ‘buoy band’ is known around the world, taking over $10 million at the box office which saw the boys perform at the 2019 Cannes film festival.

Since then they’ve sang at Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, played Glastonbury festival, and been honoured with the Good Tradition Award at the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. They’ve also been the subject of an ITV documentary, released the hit albums One and All (2013), Proper Job (2015) and Sole Mates (2018) and continued play to tens of thousands of fans at home and abroad.

This year, ahead of the after-party filming begins on Fisherman’s Friends 2, and the boys will also return to the studio to record a new album, the follow up to the hit soundtrack album Keep Hauling that is well on its way to Gold sales.

A spokesman for the band said the boys are delighted to be finally touring again and can’t wait to play the stunning open air location in Larne, County Antrim.

With World Athletics sending a delegate to the event, and  many global stars already confirmed in this year’s race, with big announcements in the elite race still to come over the coming months, the event finale will hopefully make up for the restrictions put in place during the global pandemic in 2020 and finish with a true celebration of sport and the local area.
