Antrim Coast Half Marathon Fast & Flat Half Marathon Course

Larne Lifeboat Station is delighted to have the support of the Antrim Coast Half Marathon.

The station was established in 1994 and lifeboats have been launching into the waters of East Antrim and the North Channel from Larne ever since. Today we operate an inshore D class lifeboat and an all-weather Trent class lifeboat.

In Northern Ireland alone our lifeboats launch close to 300 times each year and bring hundreds of people to safety, while the charity’s lifeguards help over 200 people each year on the 10 lifeguarded beaches around our coast.

We also work extensively through the country to give both sea and inland water safety messages to community groups and schools. 95% of our total income comes from donations. We are separate from the Coastguard and independent of the Government so we couldn’t do what we do without the generosity and support of the community.

Like most charities, during the Coronavirus pandemic our fundraising events stopped and our income went down significantly.

However, despite concerns around the health of our crew and the financial worries of the charity, our Lifeboats continued to launch to those who needed help.

With reduced holidays abroad, more people than ever took and continue to take to our coastal areas in Northern Ireland – engaging in activities such as open water swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. The result has evidently been more calls for help from the RNLI, but we remain 100% committed to ensuring the Antrim coast is a safe place to visit.

The RNLI is a unique organisation. Although it has a national reach, it is also an organisation that is at the very heart of individual communities. In Larne we are highly respected for the work we do.

We look forward to having a presence at the Antrim Coast Half Marathon on 28th August and have set up a unique Justgiving Link for anyone who would like to donate directly to the Larne Lifeboat Station, or raise funds through sponsorship.

Make sure to visit our Pop-Up shop at our gazebo at the finish area on the day where we will have some great products. Our Stormy Stan Mascot will also be there to meet the kids. Have a great run and we look forward to seeing you on the day.
